Big WW1 Service Record

Post by Blue70 »

My Nan's uncle's service record is a hefty 78 images long is this record a record?

He was a TA man before the war, reached the rank of sgt during the war, got wounded in France and re-posted back home. The army made a mistake with his re-posting to the labour corp which resulted in a lot of correspondence sent trying to put things right. After the war he rejoined the TA and served for one year.

You're lucky to get the record at all, as so many went up in flames. That sounds a massive colelction - I hope it wasn't all his crime sheet!

What a wonderful resource you will have there Blue. Even if it is a Crime Sheet it's still going to be of amazing interest.

No charges in this exemplary record but the army look like cowboys the way they messed up the posting and struggled to put things right. I can't say as much for this soldier's father he lied about his age and then let the side down with 2 AWOLs and 1 account of drunkness
