Population of Prescot 1911
I'm trying to find out the population of Prescot for 1911. Anybody got any idea where I can find the info. I have tried to Google but all that I get is percentages of ages.

Prescot population 1911
Hi Katie,
I would have thought that the National Archives would have that information extracted from the returns by Enumeration District. However, because the subject is part of the national statistics maybe an enquiry here would help?

I'm sure there are records at the National Archives, however an enquiry to the Prescot Register Office might give an answer, and if all else fails you may be able to do a tally up of the 1911 Summary Books.

I transcribed the 1901 census for Prescot a few years back and found a total of 7797 people - that is just Prescot and not outlying districts.
I have been trying to complete a transcription of the 1911 census for a long time now but struggle to find time. I think the figure you quoted sounds about right.
UPDATE - Just checked the Enumeration District totals for 1911 and they add up to 8,154

Thanks Steve.
So when the Pals Battalions took up residence which was approx 4,000 soldiers and there were approx 2,000 based in Knowsley Park the population of Prescot was approx 14,000. Canon Mitchell reckoned there was not one War Baby conceived while the Pals were based there. And the girls from Prescot were accused of Libel against the "Pals" for saying the soldiers from "The Pals" were the fathers. Interesting bit of Social History. Id love to get in that registry office and see how many babies were born between June/July 1915!
