Trying to trace my great aunt Mary Frances Nee born 1886 Bangor caernarfonshire, married a Robert Edwards year 1907 in Holywell Flintshire.
They had 3 children all born in Holywell, her husband Robert Edwards died in the ww1 26 March 1917.
After her husband died she took her 3 children off to Liverpool as the story goes, then she brought all the children back to Holywell and left them with her father William Joseph Nee in Holywell, and then she just vanished and nobody knows what had happened to her, did she go back to Liverpool I think there were some Edward families living in Liverpool
Any help would be great.
Thank you
help tracing Mary Frances Edwards maiden surname NEE
Hello Barnowl and welcome!
I've had a scout around for Mary Frances Edwards nee Nee and this is what I have at the moment.
Deaths: MFE bn 1886 +/- 2 years.
EDWARDS, Mary F - Oxfordshire, Headington - 1922
EDWARDS, Mary F - Carmarthenshire, Llanelly - 1967
Both are possible but I think unlikely.
If she remarried, there are only 2 marriages that fit in an all-counties search up to 1945.
Marriages Jun 1923: Edwards, Mary F and Jones, Joseph - Hawarden - 11b - 466
Marriages Dec 1926: Edwards, Mary F and Thistlewood, Francis X - W.Derby - 8b - 781.
There are no deaths for a Mary F Thistlewood bn abt 1886. But there is one for an MFT bn 1908, so that would rule out that marriage I think.
There are deaths for Mary F Jones bn 1886 +/- 1 year.
Only 1 in Wales...
Name: JONES, Mary F
Registration District: Radnorshire West, Radnorshire
Year/qtr of Registration: 1956 / Apr-May-Jun
Age at death: 69
Volume No: 8C; Page No: 389
And these in England...
JONES, Mary F, Southport 1948
JONES, Mary F, Liverpool South 1949
JONES, Mary F, Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent 1951
JONES, Mary F, Staffordshire, Newcastle under Lyme 1965
JONES, Mary Frances, London, Southwark 1969
It might be worth investigating the two deaths in italics, given their location after confirming that Hawarden marriage?
It would be worth buying the Hawarden marriage cert to check the name of the bride's father to rule the marriage in or out. Alternatively, the Hawarden Register Office is still open and they might be prepared to check the marriage for you for the bride's father's name. http://uk.uhuw.com/business/720524/hawa ... ce-deeside
As for births Jones nee Edwards in Flintshire, there are 25 between 1923 and 1936, when Mary would have been 40. About half of them are registered in Hawarden, the rest in Holywell.

Hi again Barnowl
Do you have the marriage cert at all? Just wondering who Robert's father was as it may help to trace him later.
Was Robt born in Wales? There are, sadly, lots of deaths for the same name in WW1.
If we had their kiddies names it would help too.
Thanks

trying to trace great aunt Mary Frances Edwards
Thank you all for your suggestions i will try and find out from the registrars office to see if there is a marriage certificate at Hawarden.
It seems so strange to me that a person with 3 children would just leave them with their grandfather and go off like that.
I will see what I can find out.
thank you all once again for your suggestions, watch this space.
regards Barnowl

Hi Alison
Many thanks for your input
Barnowl, we have come across mothers who have left their kiddies a number of times in the forum for no reason and no trace later.
It's very frustrating.
Have you looked in Genes ReUnited at all?
Thanks
Tina
