update to mclean/mckenna
alexander mclean was killed at garston docks 3rd february 1891 aged 48
so takiing ihe was born 1882 and knowing from their sons birth certs he was a mariner ive tracked one alexander mclean carpenter aboard the ss lady olive in falmouth cornwall in 1881 born dundee scotland
having checked local old newspapers there where no reports of the accident
and only returning to the site after so long (my most humble apoligy's)i find i have been given another trail to follow ie the widow helens remarriage sert to obtain her fathers details thank you (all hints and tips gratefully acceptered) once again thanks

The accident and inquest would be most likely to be reported in a paper local to Garston. I would look at that because it may well give family details. Who reported his death on his death certificate? Was it the coroner? What was his occupation on the death certificate?
Do you have the man on censuses earlier? If so please post. Where and when was the son born ?
