I found an entry for a Liverpool ancestor who died in 1884 with probate for Administration of the personal estate being granted.

If I order a copy - what sort of information is likely to be included? Anyone ordered one before?

If you mean it was Letters of Administration rather than Probate of a Will, meaning that the person died intestate, there may well be nothing very much.

Here is one that I have

On 31st December, 1886, Letters of Administration of the Personal Estate of name, late of address West Derby in the County of Lancaster, occupation, deceased who died on the date, at address, aforesaid intestate were granted by Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice in the District Registry attached to the Probate Division thereof at Liverpool to wife of her present address near Liverepool in the said County the lawyer, Widow and Relict of the said deceased, she having been first sworn duly to administer.

Sureties John Pugh Jones of 21 West Street, Prescot in the said County Cashier and Charles William Harvey of 53 Lord Street, Liverpool aforesaid Architect and Surveyors.

Effects £137.15.2 no leasehold.
Extracted by Banks and Kendall, Solicitors, Liverpool.

You may be able to get a copy from the Lancashire Record Office that might save you some money if you are able to visit there.

Mine is "administration of the personal estate of NAME... etc

then it gives name of name of attorney residing in Liverpool and then next of kin's name and residing South Africa.

Would you know if the full addresses are likely to be shown on the original court document?

Are you sure it's not "Letters of Administration of the Personal Estate of ...."

This should mean that there was no Will, however on the one I have yes it gives both the address of the deceased, address where he died (both were the same in this case) and also the address of the person Administrating - in this case the wife. By the time matters were sorted out, in this case it was about eight years later, she was living at a different address.

I couldn't say for definite that all would be alike but that seems like fairly basic information that I would hope would be included.

I suppose I just want to know if the actual document contains more information that that stated in the summary noted in the National Probate Calendar.
