Liverpool marriage? RESOLVED? The saga continues....
To save me the price of a GRO marriage cert I am wondering if this marriage appears in the Anc*** collection which I am unable to access.
Marriage Sep qtr 1862: Fitzpatrick, Mary and McAnaspie, Thomas; Liverpool - 8b - 259.
Don't know which church unfortunately. I am hoping that Thomas' father will be James and his occupation will be slater and/or plasterer.

Liverpool marriage?
Hi Blue,
Thanks for the FamilySearch info. My eyes must have been shut when I looked a while back.
Looks like I could be more than 1/2 way to associating Thomas McA as a sibling of my g.g.father James. Father's name same for each. Looks like the GRO after all to confirm the occupation as slater and/or plasterer.
Thanks again, much appreciated.

Liverpool marriage? RESOLVED
With the help of the great folk on this forum it looks like my 'are they/aren't they brothers' quandary has been resolved.
Thomas McAnaspie [bn Dublin abt 1838 ] and James McAnaspie [bn Liverpool (?) abt 1842] were both slaters and plasterers. Their fathers had the same name, James. The trade of both fathers was also slater and plasterer. Both named their first-born sons James. That's enough 'coincidences' for me to accept they were indeed brothers.
That acceptance comes with a bonus in that it led me directly to g.g.g.parents James and Margaret McAnnaspie, bn abt 1800 and 1810 respectively, but a little unfortunately, in Ireland.
Thanks to everyone...

The McAnaspie Clan and multiple variants
Hi Tina,
The bonus of finding 'new' g.g.g.parents made up for the 'horror' of finding out my mum's father had changed his birth name from McAnaspie to Emery thereby pruning a considerable portion of my tree and more than a couple of years research went on the bonnie. I get the feeling Tommy, my g.father, didn't like his father who had died the year before you finally found the elusive Tommy in 1891.
An additional bonus might be the finding of another McAnaspie, plasterer, in Liverpool. This time it's a William bn Ireland abt 1832, with a wife Susan bn abt 1831 also in Ireland. He's the right age, trade and origin to be a brother to the Thomas and James I have already linked. I found him in 1861 at RG09 / 2730 / 99 / 9. Seems to have died in 1864 leaving his widow and childer in 1871, and the widow with a married son in 1881. She died in 1890.
It looks as though William and Susan married in Ireland before having their first child, Charles, in Liverpool abt 1852. Haven't found that birth in the GRO yet though. The next child, Anne, is registered as McAnasprey in the Sept qtr of 1853. Hopefully that birth will be in the Anc*** collection to save me a spending me pension on a GRO copy!
There were 2 more children before 1861; Mary Jane abt 1857 and James abt 1860. Hopefully Anc*** will have Susan's maiden name......

Thank you Hilary and Ann,
This is great! From famine to feast! A short while ago I was scratching around looking for the odd Mcanaspie etc, now I am knee deep in them! Keep them coming, if you can.
Great stuff... 99% certain I now have Susan's maiden name of McGuffy too. A good afternoon indeed!

McCanaspie etc!!
A couple of days ago I had only a couple of McAnaspie [plus variants] people, then I was knee-deep and now I am up to my oxters in them! Not complaining though... far from it. Makes a lovely change.
And now, thanks to Hilary finding a burial for a previously unknown Henry McAnaspry in Sept qtr of 1856, I had to find out who he was didn't I? Sadly it seems he was an infant, born Sept qtr 1855, registered as McAnaspey, Liverpool - 8b - 214.
So can anyone see a baptism and find his parents? Possibly William and Susan [nee McGuffy]?

Hello Ann and Yappie,
Ann, there was no child Henry in the 1861 census family of William and Susan McA. Hilary had sent me the burial record she had found today and I then found the death on FreeBMD. A search for him alive in the previous two censuses drew a complete blank so looked in births from 1851 to the death in 1856. That search gave me the birth in 1855. Has to be the same.
And Yappie, yes I have the page with the baptism of William McA bn in March '56. Thank you for the offer of assistance. And as for if sticking your nose in... that's what often provides the key to unlocking some of the mysteries of our ancestors. Keep it up!
