Looking for marriage Sprung (husband) and Pattinson (wife). Have found four children born between 1920 - 1928 all with mother Pattinson, but I can find no record of a marriage. Any help much apppreciated. Moya

There is a marriage on FreeBMD 1905 Q2 Toxteth Park.

John Sprung to Elizabeth Pattinson 8b 386

You will need a birth certificate of one of the children to confirm that this is your couple since the date is so much earlier than the first child, however there are two more earlier, William in 1912 and Henry in 1914, the gap after that could be explained by the father being away at war. The mother's name isn't given before that, so there could be others younger, perhaps the 1911 census would show others.

Hi ladies,
That family you found in 19**... Parents say they've been married 7 years which fits the 1905 marriage. Apparently 4 children born one of whom died and out of the 5 infant deaths 1905 to 1912 I am guessing it is this one because it is the only one registered in Toxteth.
Births Dec 1910: Sprung, James O - Toxteth Pk - 8b - 173.
Deaths Dec 1910: Sprung, James O - 0 - Toxteth Pk - 8b - 132.

Thankyou all. I have now confirmed that the marriage of John Sprung & Elizabeth Pattinson is the one I was looking for. Now I shall try and find his war record as it does seem there was a break in the children's births. As a matter of curiosity, what is it with not being able to mention THAT census ?? Regards Moya

Hi Moya Are we looking for Pattinson or Pattison as you have 2 different surnames?
There is an Elizabeth as Pattinson aged 5 in 1891.
born Middleton Junction Lancs which was in Chadderton, near Oldham.
father Ralph mother Sarah.

Elizabeth Sprung (Nee Pattinson) was born in Northwich, Cheshire.

December Qtr 1884 Northwich 8A 267.

Elizabeth Pattinson who Barb found
was in 1891 census Cumberland
father John 32 bn Cockermouth
Sarah Ann 30 wife ditto
Joseph 8 and John 2 both born Northwich.
