John White merchant Liverpool - lived Wirral, Cheshire

Post by melness »

Hello

I don't live in England and only recent found a coonection to your are via the above John White

According to old family diary he was born in Colombo, Ceylon 1805 and lived with his wife Amelia - they married 1831 Liverpool until about 1877 or so. I was wondering if they appeared in the census for your area.

Any help appreciated.

thanks

Drew

White family 1851

Post by dickiesam »

Hi Drew,
Just a note about the address that Victoria found for 1851. My transcription has it in full as Rudgrave Place, Liscard, Wallasey, Cheshire.

Edited to correct spelling re post from Daggers below. First glance at the census page did look like Redgrave, but the other pages definitely show Rudgrave. Correction sent.

DS

PS: Had to smile! One of the servants in the household may have been working for MI5 and sworn to secrecy. In the column for 'Where born' she has "Cannot tell"! 8)

My 1930s road atlas has a Rudgrave Place and Square in Wallasey, Liscard area, but no Redgrave.

I just have to post census about James because, we in the forum, never go to the Scilly Isles....
1871 Chaplain of the Isles of Scilly.

1881 same address etc

Just adds a little bit to your tree.

Tina

Added later poor Elizabeth M she died in Scilly aged 47yrs

Also Elizabeth Lydia White aged 21 (not sure who she is)

Hi again
Elizabeth Lydia was the daughter of Ambrose who was stationed with the Army.
Not related I would think.

1832 Childwall

Post by Tina »

Hi Drew :)
Caroline baptised in Childwall you can find in familysearch, their IGI.(I'm guessing it would be All Saint's) maiden Phillips
No info in Anc@ so far.
If you have a local FHS Mormans centre, you should be able to see this as there is a batch number. No other kiddies through this batch number.
Nothing for James Henry who was 17 in 1841 census.
I also checked out Lancashire Online Parish Clerk with no luck.

Hi,

I am tracing my family tree and traced back to a Louisa White born in Liverpool 1841.

Does anyone know if she migrated to Australia?
