Another request for assistance!
I am now trying to research William Henry Pride, who was born in Preston in 1850 and who moved to Liverpool and became a solicitor until his death in 1906.
Here is the result of my searching thus far, using Ancestry and the London Gazette as sources:
Born: abt 1850 at Preston, the son of Henry Pride (printer) and Jane Gee.
In 1851 he was living (aged 1) with his parents at 7, St. Paul’s Square, Preston.
In 1861 he was living at 141, Church Street, Preston, with his parents. Also at the address were his siblings, Joseph (2 yrs younger) and Samuel (4yrs younger) and Maria (10yrs younger).
In 1871 he was a boarder at 14, Cobden Street, Tranmere. At that time he was a Solicitor’s General Clerk.
He became a solicitor, having offices at 26, North John Street, Liverpool. He was in partnership with Dan Jones, their company being known as ‘Jones and Pride’.
He joined the 80th Lancashire Rifle Volunteer Corps in August, 1878.
Married Q1 1880, West Derby, Liverpool to Ellen Alice Kerr (born Liverpool)
Lived at 4, Yew Tree Road, Walton-on-the-Hill in 1881
The London Gazette of 18th March, 1886 carried the following announcement:
“Notice is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between Dan Jones and Walter Henry Pride, carrying on business as Solicitors of the Supreme Court at 26, North john Street, Liverpool under the style of Jones and Pride, is now dissolved by mutual consent. All debts owing to or by the late firm of Jones and Pride will be respectively received and paid by the said Walter Henry Pride, at 26, North John Street aforesaid. – Dated this 13th Day of March, 1886.”
He lived at 5, Lancaster Avenue, Ullet Road, Liverpool from bef.1891 until his death.
In 1901 the family were living at 5, Lancaster Avenue, Toxteth Park, Liverpool. He was 51yrs old, his wife Ellen Alice Pride was 43yrs and daughter Florence E. Pride (born Liverpool) was 19.
Walter Henry Pride died 29/08/06 at Buxton, Derbyshire
Probate was granted 16/10/06 at Liverpool to Ellen Alice Pride (widow). Effects £2048 18s. 9d.
I have a few details of his military career with the Volunteer Force, from the London Gazette, and also entry in Kelly's Directory of 1881.
Can anyone suggest further avenues of research for this man?
Thanks in advance,
Ken

Do you have access to the Gales Newspaper online archive for the 19th century? The Liverpool Mercury is one of the papers included, and your man might be mentioned, though the surname on its own will bring up lots of unwanted occurrences!
The Liverpool Law Library which was in Castle Street but I believe may now be in Old Hall Street might be able to help, even though it was blitzed during WW2 and lost many records.
