I'm looking for information on the marriage of my grandparents- Sarah Green and Joseph Hercules of Liverpool. Joseph was a seaman and was probably married to Sarah early 20th century circa 1910. Joseph was born in Kirkdale in 1883 but I don't have any information on Sarah.
Also any information on her mother Rose or Roseanne Green probably born around 1865-75.
This is Sarah's marriage:
Name: GREEN, Sarah A
Registration District: West Derby, Lancashire.
Year/quarter of registration: 1912 / Jul-Aug-Sep.
Spouse's name: Hercules, Joseph.
Volume No: 8B; Page No: 717.
In the census 19**, a year before she married, she may be with her mother Roseann, a widow, bn abt 1861 in Liverpool.
I think this is Sarah in 1901 in the household of George and Elizabeth Landrum:
GREEN, Sarah A - Niece - U/m - 7 - 1894 - Liverpool, Lancashire.
Address: 19 Fulford Street, Kirkdale, Lancashire.
RG number: RG13 / Piece:3466 / Folio:97 / Page:25.
You need the marriage details to find out Sarah's age and her father's name and occupation in order to locate her parents in a census and confirm her birth in 1894. Births Mar 1894: Green, Sarah Ann - Liverpool - 8b - 10.

Welcome aboard Elaine and good luck with your search.
Hi D.S 1901 looks good, Eliz, Margt & John are with Rose Ann & father James in 1891. Elizabeth married in 1899 to George Landrum at St Nicholas.
Probably the kiddies are his inlaws rather than nieces & nephews.
Hercules marriage at St Mary's Kirkdale.

G'day Tina,
Good follow-up your 1891 find and Elizabeth's marriage. I didn't finish my post until past midnight when my eyes started to give up so I left looking for the Landrum link for another time.
Have to rush now or they won't let me into Westminster for the marriage and I'll miss the do afterwards!

Glad you noticed me Tina. I did put on as much gold braid and dangly things as I had in the old military stuff wardrobe. And remembered my mother's golden rule too.... clean vest and pants in case I had to go to hospital!
If you had mentioned it earlier I would have got you seats in the front stalls nearer to the ice-cream lady!

Many thanks for the warm welcome and the useful information you have all provided for me- yes this is my grandmother and also my great grandmother Roseann.
The Landrums were related to my mum. I'm surprised at the names of the children with them- all the same as my Mum's brothers and sisters! It's the same in my Dad's side of the family- they're nearly all called Bobby, Eddie or Charlie.
I am very grateful to you all. I can now start compiling my late Mum's side of the family after concentrating on her dad's side (can't get beyond information on the marriage certificate).
If anyone can help with a Joseph Hercules mariner born circa 1846-district unknown - (father was Charles Hercules listed as a grocer on his marriage certificate- family legend has it they were Greek)- who was Joseph Hercules Junior's father I will be forever in your debt.
In case anybody wants to follow the progress of this topic.
