hopefully someone might be able to give me some advice,
My Great Grandfather William Lee was born 23rd, December 1880 in the Mount Pleasant workhouse according to his birth certificate, and his mother Margaret Lee (nee Mason) died 28, November, 1900 but Margarets Husband /Williams father , William Lee was down as living at 7H 12C Tatlock Street.

Would this mean it was used as an infirmary on these dates or would she have been working in workhouse.
Allso is there anywhere I might find any records in the workhouse regarding these on line.
I say on Line as I live in Llandudno, North Wales and cannot get up to Liverpool at present.

would be really grateful for some advice.
Paul. :?

The records for Brownlow Hill Workhouse Infirmary are on Microfilm at Liverpool Record Office which you can can consult your self. She will most probably have gone into there to have her baby as it was the equilivant of the NHS she didn't have to pay.

Hi Tina,
your correct with the 1901 census, in the 1891 census they were living in court street which apperently was just near tatlock street.
I have still not found anything of them in 1911 the last I had was Cartmel Street in Huyton where my Grandfather got married from in 1941 :?

Hi again
the only birth certificates I have is William 1900 and that was tatlock street, I am expecting a death certificate for William(Mary's husband) in next few days hopefully it might give a further address.
trouble is the members of the family who knew details have all passed away, and I have not been able to contact or find any details of the sisters.
The only thing I do know is that William had apparently drowned tragically by the docks, he had fallen in and caught by his braces on a hook drowned but not found until they found his horse and cart by there waitng for him.

I will get to the bottom of this one way or another.
Thank for looking. xxx

Hi

My own Great Gran cant be found on the 1911 nor her hubby to be, although he maybe at Sea but she should be there she married 1912 and she had a daughter out of wedlock in 1903 i cant find her either..I think her mother was admitted into some Asylum and her father shacked up with another lady and had two more kids.. mad isnt it...

My Great Grandad on the 1901 has the totaly wrong surname lucky for me he came from a little place in Warwickshire and thats why he stuck out otherwise i would never have found him..
I think a few people are missing from 1911.

hiya
I agree there does seem to be a lot missing, what annoys me is that although it is some years ago there had been several census's by this time and they should have been better.
Name varients are a pain, on the Lane side of my family i found it spelt as Lone which is close but it is supposed to show variants but did not. It was only the fact that I had done a family history course that I decided to try this.
Also on my gt.gt grandfathers wedding certificate it was spelt as Leigh instead of Lee.
thanks again for looking and good luck with yours.
