North Meols registers, c1820

Post by daggers »

Has anyone got access to the marriage register for North Meols parish church around 1820? I found a note of a marriage announcement, said to be from the Liverpool Mercury of 15 Sept 1820, but not found when that and other papers were searched via the online newspapers service.
I believe that the LPRS may have transcribed the registers, and Vol. 128 may be the one.
The marriage details I want are for Thomas Heaton, a surgeon, and 'Miss Garthside', whose first names were probably Ann Elizabeth.
[According to the Lancs RO, the original registers are accessed via the incumbent.]
Thanks in advance, and with confidence!

The original parish registers are still at the church - they have archival conditions. They are however filmed and the film is at Lancashire Record Office

Thanks for those two items, which confirm the press report I have not yet found. Perhaps it was not the Mercury where it appeared.

The online search in the Old Newspapers can be narrowed down by publication and by date. I tried just the words "birth" "marriage" "obituaries" for the Liverpool Mercury on both 8th and 15th September and had no luck.

I think this section has been missed from the scanning.

Mary
That seems to be the answer. I found the note about the marriage on a very old posting on a Rootsweb board, but like you tried various inputs for the online Mercury, with no joy.
All now seems settled thanks to our experts here.
