Temporary facilities have been set up in the Museum next door, however, prior booking of machines etc. isn't allowed and I don't know whether as many people are visiting as used to, to the Record Office. Keep an eye on this post to see the updates. http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=9679 The situation will continue for the next couple of years.

Thanks Tina & Mary Happy New Year to you both. It is a difficult time of the year without the hassles of relocations etc. If it can't be done now I can try again later. Life has been so hectic for a while I was taking advantage of a quiet period. There is plenty of transcribing I can be getting on with.
Cheers

Arrrgh thanks I was in Huyton anyway and its always empty in there and the staff let me get away with murder (everyone else has to ask for the films) I just dive into the drawers, I also need to get prepared for a little workshop I am doing there for the U3A group in January. May next year be peaceful and prosperous for all and our Society continues to flourish.
I was, for some obscure reason, intrigued by the widowed Jane and had to look up when Towers died....
Deaths Mar 1849> Tidyman, Towers - Liverpool - 20 - 311.
They married on the 12th of January and he was gone by the 31st of March. Not a happy start to married life. I wonder how he died? He was a stone mason and fatal accidents at work were common.

Nothing in the Liverpool Mercury. It seems that these two were having children before they married at least 6 of them, perhaps he became ill and had to make a honest woman of her before he died?

Quite probable I'd say. I have two instances of that happening in my lot.
I also have two instances where one of the parents was already married and had to wait until the previous spouse died. In both cases the 'wait' was over 20 years!

Happy New year to everyone and thank you thank you Thank you to Katie you have added an extra generation to my tree. You are all correct Towers and Jane obviously wanted to be sure that they were right for each other before tying the knot! Similar story on my maternal side where the gt grandparents waited for 12 years and 8 children before marrying.
Since Towers was a stonemason it's possible he had that lung disease they got from dust so thought he should make it legal. I will get his death certificate.
Towers was a mystery man until you all came to the rescue some time ago - he was James in the 1841 census and Thomas on his son Francis marriage certificate. His father is John Tidyman of Cumberland and his mother is Sarah Towers - hence the name.
Thank you all once again - a great start to 2011. Yippee
