The main one that I have researched was St Oswalds and they certainly did record the Godparents - in latin!

Hi Holly,

I have a lot of RC baptisms dating from 1879 - 1920 and they all record either one or two God Parents in Latin. If you have any problems with the translation of any names just ask on here and I should be able to translate using either my baptisms or the Latin to English translations available on various websites.

Thank you Blue70 and Marya, I received the transcription courtesy of LHP with the translation. Interestingly in the margin were the details of the childs marriage in 1920, the Baptism being 1887 - a double whammy!!

Thank you all for your help and seasons greetings !! Holly

I've got a few RC baptisms with the marriage details added at a later date by the priest. It's a nice bonus when they arrive with the baptism record.

This seems to be standard in RC churches, I remember having to obtain my baptism cert before getting married and I suspect a note was made then. I've seen similar before - and even more in depth comments when the priest has known something of the birth ....
