Louisa & Thomas Park

Post by sailorden1 »

Now I'm just a simple country boy living in West Cork, and cant work this out now?

Thomas Park married Louisa Johnson.

My dad was born in 1922.

where do the rest fit in . My brains are coming out of my ears now!

Can you just spell it out for me,

Was Louisa a lockley, then a Johnson and then a park?
But the birth date for Thomas E Park confuses me?

give me the simple answer here or I will need a stiff drink soon!

From an ex-city simple lad in the sunny south east...
Dennis, you are not alone in the oft confused world of genealogy!

I am beginning to think that Louisa was perhaps more than a little confused herself. If you accept that then it all makes sense.

First, I think, as Katie suggested, she may have lost her first husband Richard Johnston in WW1. She may not have been 100% literate and used Johnson as her name when she married Thomas Park in 1920 [easy enough to lose the 't'], or was mis-heard by the Registrar. Both have happened.

When Thomas E [for Edward by any chance?] was registered she inadvertently used her maiden name. That's quite possible, certainly. You should get his birth cert to confirm the theory.

Similarly, when she married add a little more confusion and Edward Lockley became Albert Edward Johnson. Maybe her father-in-law's name?

It is possible that the 4th child, whose name currently escapes you, was either a nee Lockley or Johnston although I couldn't find one as a 100% match.
EDIT! Could this be the 4th child?
Births Sep 1913> Johnson, Albert E C - Lockley - W.Derby - 8b - 973.

You will have to hang on until the 1921 census is released for a little digging into the more recent past.

Thanks.

That makes sense now!

Poor Louisa, loosing her husband like that in the great War , and she was either pregnant or with a baby.

My aunt Vera is still alive, so maybe I can ask some very question gentle questions.

I will start tracing the Lockley line now, more mind bending fun?

Thanks both!
Regards
Dennis Park

Louisa Park nee Johnson and Thomas E Park

Post by dickiesam »

Hi,
Meant to add this to the 1913 Johnson, Albert E C - Lockley - W.Derby - 8b - 973 birth above.

This is probably the only marriage from 1900 to 1913 that could have produced that birth:
Marriages Sep 1912> Johnston, Richard A to Lockley, Louisa - W.Derby - 8b - 940.
But you will need the birth cert to confirm it.

Johnston, Johnson, I've even seen Johnsen.......!

And you have a living relative who might know a little more about Louisa? Wow! I am so envious!

I've noticed before and I will say it here that Dickiesam has some very inciteful hunches that when we can manage to follow his reasoning, have a great deal of logic behind them, although at first we don't always see it.

Be very gentle with your aunt, but also be very alert to whatever she has to say and if it is possible, take notes and don't just ask questions but if you try to lead the conversation you never know which line the chat will take you.

Oh gosh..... I think it's called thinking outside the box? My dad would be proud of me!
