help to find Mary Brown 1871

Mary Brown nee Bolton born 1823 on the 61 census age 38 with husband James and family holt Lane Rainhill. not at home on the 71 census husband listed as married living at at houghton street Rainhill Mary died 1875 buried at StAnns Rainhill. can anyone help please. joe

Please give the reference for the 1861 census so that we can see the full details.

Have you identified the Boltons, ie Mary's family, and checked them to see if she was visiting at census time?

If you give the details from their marriage certificate we could maybe look into this line of thinking.

Thanks Mary, I had a look in census and couldn't find them also tried Browne.
There are a couple of Mary's with spouse James but nowhere near Rainhill.
I can't find her death in 1875 aged 52yrs.
No marriage in Free BMD.

It's definitely 62 so, if this is she, perhaps her 1861 census age is out by 10 years?

No sign of a Bolton/Brown marriage in Lancs though, Sept 1837 to 1875.
We need the page references for the 1861 and 1871 censuses.

I am soooooo very sorry I put the wrong name in it was James Stanley born 1828 Prescot he lived in Rainhill Houghton st. His wfe Mary nee Bolton was born c1823 in Kent. She was not at home in 1871 and died dec 1875. once agin I am so sorry that I wasted your time, I can only put it down to a mature moment and my daughter gets married in two weeks am I forgiven joe

I found her marriage: Marriages Mar 1853: BOLTON, Mary and STANLEY, James - W Derby - 8b - 572.
And her death: Deaths Dec 1875> STANLEY, Mary - 53 - Prescott - 8b - 446.

Do you have the marriage cert? If yes, could you post both fathers' names and occupations? I think I found her in 1851 as a 'house servant' in the household of the Wilkin family of Upper Baker Street, West Derby... RG# HO107 / Piece:2192 / Folio:128 / Page:36. Her place of birth looks like 'Luition', Kent. There is a Luton in Kent but haven't come across anywhere that sounds/looks like Luition.

Found her in in 1861 at RG09 / 2744 / 44 / 41. Did an extensive search in 1871 without success. I suspect she may have left the family home before 1871 and was enumerated as the spouse of another man with his surname; a fairly common occurrence! If you have her death cert perhaps you would post all the addresses on it, the name of the person who reported the death and their relationship to Mary.

Certainly looks like Mary especially as one of her siblings is an Isabella; a name she gave to her second daughter.

I've had a good laugh over LUITION = LEWISHAM which I reckon is correct.

As a kid we lived a few miles from Lewisham and as I remember we said it Looishom which could easily be thought of as Luition and we didn't speak in the local accent (well I probably did to a degree to blend in but my parents didn't)

All I remember about Lewisham in the 1950s was that it had a large department store called Chiesmans which as I remember had the only local escalator and I was terrified of it!
