Hi
At the moment I'm trying to find two things about my Grandfather (Thomas Park (1891-1964). I have his birth cert and then he seems to disapear until he was about 18-20 when he reappears as a lodger in his sisters house.
His parents seem to have split up and there was a suggestion that he went to Kirkdale workhouse.
Also I have his death cert (3rd Feb 1964) - Newsham hospital, Anfield
So two questions
1. How do I find out if he was in the Workhouse (list of inmates?)
2. How do I find his grave?
I would like to visit it
Any help that you could give would be welcome
Thanks
Dennis Park

Hi Dennis
We need to know his parents names etc from birth cert to trace him in 1901 & the following census also occupations, addresses.
Any info too, you may have when he married.
Do you know when he was living with his sister??
Sorry about the questions, but for us to pinpoint him in the workhouse and the parents being separated, we need to have a few more details.
Thank you and all the best
Tina

Thomas Park (1891-1964)
Hi
Here is some info about Thomas Park
Born : 24th Oct 1891 Parents : William Robert Park (Cotton Porter) & Mary Alice Park (nee Barnes). However she seems to use the names Alice Ann & Mary Alice).
Address at birth 4h/4c Knight street LSD.( whats's lsd? Well thats what it looks like)
Birth registered 13th Nov 1891.
Married : Louisa Johnson (Widow) 27th July 1920
Various addresses : 25/26 Scarsdale Road, L 11, 17 lytton St & 24 Westbourne St.
Occupation ; Druggists assistant, Messenger etc etc
Died : 3rd Feb 1964 Newsham Hospital, Anfield.
I think that I have him in the 1911 Census living with his sister and brother in law at 17 Lytonn Street (Anne & Joesph Worrall) aged 18.
So I have his birth, death and marriage cert and a 'sighting' in 1911 aged 18 but that's about it.
So he was born (dissaperared until Eighteen) then Married my Grandmother and then had a family etc .
It was suggested that his mum and dad split up (and you can follow his mum and dad at seperate locations via the various census's) and that he went to the Kirkdale Workhouse (maybe)
But I dont have any inmate lists for the workhouse or where he is burried (I should have asked my Dad before he passed away)
Any help would be good. I can try and get more info if it would help, let me know.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Dennis Park

Hello Denis
RE:
Marriages Dec 1879> Barnes, Alice Ann to Park, William Robert - Liverpool - 8b - 77.
or, the census page references where we can find them, starting with 1891?
Thomas was a bit too young to run away to sea or join the Army before 1901!
He has to be somewhere.. with g.parents etc?

Hi,
His Parents were
William Robert Park (1857) & Alice Ann Barnes (c1859)- She also seems to appear as Mary Alice?
Married : Dec 1879 Liverpool 8b 77 Liverpool St John
You can follow William Robert Park from the 1871- 1911 census. Alice is a bit more challanging but she is in the 1861 & 1911 census. 1911 living with her Son and Daughter in Law (as Alice) & 1861 living with her Dad (John Barnes)
Let me know if you need some more.
Thanks

Haaaaaaaaaaaa
how many names does this woman have
well in 1881 she is aged 21 1891 cannot find her 1901 this Margaret is 42 so its looking good.
we need to find her in 1891.. maybe find Catherine and she might be with her..i am having a job finding Catherine though..if she had a rocky marriage with Wiliam Robert how come there were loads of kids
she would be pregnant with Thomas when the 1891 was taken.
It doesnt look like her mother Catherine remarried if she is Barnes still in 1901..shes had a real rough time between 1891 and 1901 losing 4 children maybe more.

All,
All I can say is WOW, good work you have it cracked!
Here is the story ; William Robert Married Alice Barnes and had heaps of kids.
However they broke up and Alice took the youngest of the kids with her to stay with her mother.
Maybe she did not want to be found so in the Census paperwork she changed Park to Peark and slipped in a first name change to Margaret for good measure.
When the children were oldr she went to live with her eldest son (William) and my grand father (Thomas Park) went to live with his elder sister. IT FITS WELL DONE ALL!
Maybe William Robert Park was a bit handy with his hands so that she left and went for a name change when the children were young. After all it seems he ended his years alone in a Boarding house.
As far as the workhouse in Ulverstone there are a lot of Parks in that area, if fact this line of Parks comes from John Park (1771) married to Hannah they were living in Broughton in Furness in the 1841 Census.
I will add a thread for John later when we have finished this challange, that one will be a lot tougher!!
Anyway - one open question
Thomas Park (1891 - 1964) died aged 72. Newsham Hospital, Anfield (3rd Feb 1964)
Where is he buried ?? I would love to visit him and hopefully my Grandma Louise Park ( nee Johnson, nee Farrell).
Can you let me know how to get this final bit of information and I will head to Liverpool.
Thanks a million for your help so far, a couple of strokes of genius from you guys (peark) instead of Park, and a whole heap of baptisms etc.
Kind Regards
Dennis Park

Hi
By the way Thomas birth date seems to move about from 1891 to 1893. Its 1891 on his birth cert, but Ive quite often seen dates move arround on census forms.
My wife always seems to get younger of census forms and my religion is Jedi Knight (8% of the Population!)
Thanks

He could be in Anfield Cemetery/Crematorium.
You have a date of death, so they may tell you if you telephone
http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Community_a ... /index.asp
Otherwise a look at the burial records at Liverpool Record Office..
Other possible cemetries I think would be
Everton
West Derby
Kirkdale
Good Luck Dennis, hope you find him
