Does anyone know if it is possible to get a copy of an inquest held in October 1877? I have information from the Liverpool Mercury that says an inquest was held on October 9 into the the death of Thomas Ignatius Perkins.
I would very much like to get a copy of that report but don't know where to start. Any help is very much appreciated! Thanks in advance from 'down under"
Coroners Inquest
Checking the Liverpool Records Office Online Catalogue it would seem that the Coroner's Inquest Records began only in 1898, I don't believe you will be lucky, prior to that date we tend to rely on the newspaper articles.

Coroners Inquest
Hi,
I don't think you would have gleaned much more from an Inquest Record than is on Thomas' death cert. The verdict would probably have been 'Misadventure - Accidental death'. And there would have been a few more details such as what he was doing at the time; presumably working as a docker loading or unloading a ship.

Liverpool Mercury 9th October 1877

As already suggested the inquest report would only have the same information as of that on the death cert and looking at the newspaper it was a verdict of accidental death.
