Special keyboard symbols you have always wanted to use!

Hi everyone,
Most of us at one time or another have wanted to put an accent over a letter a la Francais as in café or use the German umlaut symbol as in A is for äpfel, or combine the + and - range symbols into the correct one [±]? Or instead of writing the temperature as 15 degrees C, be smart and write 15°C and scores of other unusual characters.

So here's a very useful site for finding out how to insert all manner of unusual characters and symbols into your text, whether emails or Word, etc.

Make sure you have Numlock ON. Hold down the ALT key and type the number from the list on the site using the numeric keypad. Don't use the number keys across the top row of the keyboard because the input won't work.

Examples:
¢ Cent sign = Alt+0162
€ Euro currency = Alt+0128
¥ Japanese Yen = Alt+0165
ƒ Dutch Florin = Alt+0131
All direct from the PC keypad.

Here's a fraction using a GB keyboard: [Alt+0190] = ¾
And I didn't copy/paste.

Other Alt key characters that may come in handy are:

© Copyright symbol = Alt+0169
® Registered symbol = Alt+0174
™ Trademark symbol = Alt+0153

And there's lots more, like ± and ÷ and ° and † and € etc..... Do a little sticky for your monitor with your 'favourites'. They are all at:
