Croft Family
hi- i hope i am in the right forum, i am currenty researching my Family and have found that my Great Great Uncle Samuel Croft and his wife Sarah moved from Belfast pre 1871 to West Derby,Lancashire. They had nine children and seem to appear in the next census of 1881,1891 and 1901. Samuel was a baker (as was his father James Croft back in Belfast)I also note that in the 1901 census one of the Daughters has married and now bears the surname Von Tromp. Is there anyone that may be related to the Crofts and would be willing to share any information. I have my own family history from one of Samuels Brothers Thomas James Croft and would love to know what happened to this branch of the family.-thanks Philip Croft (Belfast)

Hi,
I see that Sarah Croft married John Pullman Tromp, as Tina said, in West Derby [8b - 624 - Mar qtr 1893]. Haven't found any reference to a Von though. Haven't yet found the family in 1901, but did find them later on.
Appears to be one child from the marriage?
Births Sep 1893> Tromp, John Percival - W. Derby - 8b - 613.

Hi D.S
There's a WW1 medal card for Pte John P Tromp 359063

I'm guessing it is John P jr who marries Mary Povall in 1919

Sadly possible death for young John P aged 30yrs in 1923.
Birth Percival C Tromp nee Povall march 1921 W Dby.
(his birthplace in 1901 listed as Bread Green!!)
Crofty may already have this info.

hi thanks for all the replys, i recently obtained the death certificate for Samuel Croft , details as follows, Died 13th January 1892 , at 28 Montague Road,West Derby Rural. Would there be a local paper for that area that may contain details of his death?
Hi and welcome to the forum. I have checked the Old Newspaper site as the Liverpool Mercury is available on there, unfortunately with success for an entry.
Has the death certificate given a cause that might have been reported in the newspaper, or were you just hoping for an obituary?
There were various other newspapers that might have had something in, particularly the Liverpool Echo, holdings are at the Liverpool Record Office and the papers and dates are listed here http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=8300
