A couple I'm researching seem to vanish from the records in the 1950s I'm wondering if they went to Australia. Are there any online death records to search for Australia?

Australia?
Hi,
We can check the lists of passenger leaving the UK 1950-1960. Need names, ages and last known address if possible.
After that, if you still think they went down under, it's searching the '£10 Pom' immigration lists. I believe they may be available at Australia House, but are not online. Enquire at http://www.uk.embassy.gov.au/lhlh/home.html

www.findmypast.co.uk have passenger lists living the UK up to the 1960s
I imagine death registration is done by state - you need to ask Tina

Hi D.S & E.O
Good suggestions.
It could be a wild goose chase until we establish that they actually came to Oz.
Yes, each state has their own records.
National Archives can do a surname search, imagine how much info would come up
We need info to chase up the shipping lists first.

Tina is right. Start a search through the National Archives at their website:

I started this process in January this year. I did not get any satisfaction until May when they wrote; " As this reply is overdue, on this occasion there is no charge for it."
I received a "Bundle" of papers. Most interesting were the Medical Examinations done on my parents & myself. I still remember in 1954 getting the Overhead Railway from Seaforth to Dingle to visit the doctor for the exam. Address was 363 Park Road Liverpool 8. (Dingle Hill)
I am obliged to the doctor who declared my intelligence to be "average ". The doctor's assessments of my parents are there in his own handwriting.
