Hi
I have managed to find Daniel H V Rees getting married to Bloomer B Finestone in 1957 in Liverpool. Since then his family have no knowledge what happened to him. How can I find if they had any children. Obviously FreeBMD does not go up to 1957. I tried on Ancestry but there are so many Rees children (also I do not know if they did have any children). I have applied for the marriage certificate to try and establish what Daniel did for a living to get another clue (rumour has it that he was ostracised by the family but no one knows the reason why???). Where else could one look to find this information please.
many thanks to any one in advance who could come up with some searching ideas
regards
Hazel Rees
Finestone - Bloomer B
We put together a few suggestions here http://liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/phpBB ... php?t=8154
If you search the birth index on Ancestry you can put the surname in and also the Mother's maiden name and see the results.
In this case I don't see any for those names together.
Nor do I see deaths for these two names, so they may still be living - or at least up until 2005 which is when the indexes available stop.
Please be aware that any details of living people should not be posted on this forum.

Nothing for births in Lancs BMD although I did find Bloomers in 1936 rego area Sefton Park.
Her parents marriage is there at Lpl R.O or registrar attended
Edith H Shegog (never come across this before) to Wolfe Finestone 1925.
Bloomer has a brother Samuel bn 1926.
Were they Jewish?
Perhaps his descendants may know something??

Shegog and Finestone
I think Tina's suggestion of tracking down Samuel's descendants is a good one. He married in 1949. There's a strong possibility any family may know what happened to his young sister Bloomer. Too recent to post name of spouse so I have PMd details to Hazel.
Re Shegog.. Intrigued by the name I backtracked through the censuses to Edith H[arrison] Shegog's g.father in 1871. He was Joseph bn abt 1830 in Ireland! He and his wife Janet [bn Scotland abt 1837] are at 83 Byrom Street and he's a boot-maker. There are 2 sons with them, William bn Scotland 1861 and Joseph bn Liverpool 1866.
Edith's father James was born in Liverpool in 1872. Both parents were dead by 1876. In 1881 James is in the Myrtle Street orphanage while his two older brothers are lodged with another family.

Hi Dickiesam
and many thanks for comments.
Ireland is quite possible for Shegog, according surname origins it was Dutch/German origin, probably came over with William of Orange.
Tks also to Mary for the other link.
Tina
No luck in GRU or shipping from 1957-1960.

Evening all
I would just like to thank everyone who helped me with this enquiry. We have now met up and had a good chat. The idea of contacting other family of Bloomer worked (they live in Australia) she is alive and surprised to find family.
many many thanks
