In the 1851 census my relation William France is shown as birthplace KN. I understand this is not known. Have I come to a dead end with this one?

someone called Tom Hesketh has sent a correction to Ancestry for this

perhaps he knows where William is from. he is not born in county accroding to the 1841.

Do you know Elizabeth's maiden name

do you have any birth certs for the children?
I wonder if this is the marriage from IGI
William France to Elizabeth Jones
03 JAN 1816 Saint Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England

the witnesses at this marriage may be a clue if it is the right one.

Elizabeth is living with son Frederick in 1871
at St Andrew's St

she is a widow.. but can't find her on the 1861.. or William

so don't know how long she has been widowed.. is she and William on the 1861 somewhere

Hi Simone,

Yes that is the family. Two sets of twins! I was aware of the misspelling. I will try and look on Ancestry although I find it difficult to use.

Did you know the maiden name of Elizabeth? Is the marriage I found the right one?

I see Col has asked for a marriage lookup... I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you tagged it on to her request... we may be able to find something from witnesses names.

At the moment I can't see William or Elizabeth on the 1861

not even just Elizabeth on her own as a widow
