Can anyone advise on a good place to source photos of old Liverpool?
I would particuarly like photo of Walton workhouse. (I think this is now the hospital but has it changed much?.) I have postcards of St Nicholas church but would love same of St Peters, All Saints etc.
I would also be really interested in what images of the old Liverpool Courts and streets, factories etc etc. It would really bring my paperwork to life.
I have just spent ages on Ebay but there was nothing that I wanted there.
I would be very grateful if a learned one could let me know if there is somewhere that I can get / purchase images from that do not infringe copyright etc.
The Workhouse site has pictures of the old Liverpool Workhouse in Brownlow Hill, some of them don't appear to have a copyright notice, others do. On the Mary Evans site are pictures of the Liverpool Workhouse as we would have known it, in Rice Lane, the clock tower is still there - in fact I believe it may be listed, although the accommodation has now been sold off, I think into flats.

I am just investigating right now! I rang the Mary Evans site and was told that prints start at £10. If I want quite a few that soon mounts up! Ideally I would like to find a site that can print your images postcard size or duplicate old postcards (if that is not against copyright) for a reasonable price.
I would be well happy not to have to faff about myself as the printer and I often have big disagreements.
All the best to everyone
Liverpool Record Office have quite a collection of Photographs of Liverpool. They did have a disc for sale called P.O.O.L (Pictures of Old Liverpool) but I dont know if they have any left in stock. You could try ringing them on 0151 233 5817
I rang the Record Library and they had a few left. Selling at a reduced price of £3 as they are closing for the foreseeable.
I live 200 miles away but someone kindly collected for me as they do not post out. Thanks, Kathy, for letting me know. Looking forward to seeing what goodies are on the disc.
