St Peter, Church St - copies of Baptism register

Is it possible to get photo copies/transcriptions of baptisms at St Peter, Church St LIVERPOOL from about the 1839-1848 period please?

I have been trying without success for some time to locate birth certificate reference numbers to order certificates for the following:

Children of:
John ANGUS and Eliza HARTLEY
Marr Sept 9th 1837, St Marks, LIVERPOOL (certificate obtained)

Fanny b. About 1839 c. 16/6/1840 St Peter
Lewis b. 1841/2 (d. 11/7/1852 West Derby – certificate obtained) c. ?
John b. 1844 (other sources suggest birth date of 3/4/1844) c.1/6/1845 St Peter
Robert Alexander b. 1848 (other sources suggest birth date of 23/4/1848) c. 17/7/1848 St Peter

Could anyone also please advise if it is likely that registrations may not have been made or that not all registrations have yet been transcribed (Free BDM etc),

Gangus. There is a baptism for John Angus 1 June 1845 parents Angus & Eliza. Living in Bootle lane, father's occupation Officer in County Gaol. Found this on the Lancashire OPC site. Regards Moya (A West Aussie)

1851 census living in Kensington
Eliza is seamstress 40 married
Fanny 10, Lewis 8, John 5, Robert 2 all bn Lpool.

It wasnt compulsory till 1872 to register births, so they may not have been registered. I know from experience that the fiche for some of the St Catherine's birth indexes are extremely hard to read, so they may have been registered but the transcriber has not been able to make out the entries.

Sadly Katie's correct, often when it was a choice between feeding the family and registering the child, guess which won, especially if the registrar could be avoided and it was his responsibility in those early days to make a note of the newborn children rather than the parents.
