Richard Bolderson

Post by emeltee »

Hi All,

I recently posted re my 3 x gt grandmother Elizabeth Bolderson and received some fantastic help which has enabled me to find her parents Richard Bolderson, mother Elizabeth McGuire and her siblings although there is a gap between brother Richard born 1814 and sister Mary Ann born 1824 which I have not yet been able to fill.

Elizabeth appears on the 1841 Census with son Richard and it states that she was born in Ireland so I don’t hold much hope for finding her birth and parents. I cannot find a marriage for Richard and Elizabeth either.

I have tried to find Richard’s birth and did find an entry in Lancs OPC for a Richard Balderson born 1772 son of Richard Balderson and Catherine Yearsley (spelt Yurzley on Familysearch). Un fortunately this Richard died in 1780 aged 8. I have found a Burial on Familysearch for a Richard Balderson in 1832 which gives his age as 58 and therefore his birth year as 1774. However I cannot find a matching birth. Richard and Catherine had a son called Thomas in 1774 and I did wonder if , although he was christened Thomas the family called him Richard after his dead brother but then realised that Thomas would have been 6 when Richard died so it would have been highly unlikely. The only reason I am somewhat fixated with Richard and Catherine is that Richard was a Smith by trade, as was Richard father of Elizabeth and Richard brother of Elizabeth. I’m starting to go round in circles and am getting nowhere fast.

Can anyone help find Richard and Elizabeth’s marriage and Richard’s birth circa 1774.

Thanks in advance,

Margaret

Checked my resources without any success. Just thought I'd give you a few burials in case you can connect them.

St James Cemetery
Here lieth the remains of William BALDERSON who departed this life on
the 19th of September 1832, aged 57 years. How hard it is to part with those
we love so dear, a loving husband and a friend sincere, in prime of life to be
thus snatch’d away, by cruel death who could no longer stay, but cease to
weep in hope his soul’s at rest, in those divine abodes among the blest.

Necropolis
In memory of John BALDERSTONE who departed this life Oct 6th 1855 aged
30 years. The memory of the just is blessed. Mary Alice his eldest daughter
who died August 12th 1858 aged 7 ½ years.

Thanks Mary, not quite sure how they fit in with all my Richards but will bear them in mind.
Thanks for looking.

I don't really expect them to fit with your Richards, but maybe in later years or another branch of the family. Since this was all I found I thought you might as well keep it on file.

Thanks Mary, your input is appreciated. I didn't mean to sound ungrateful.
