LRO Burial Look Up Request - RC Microfiche please

Post by riley »

I have just discovered that Ellen MacSweeney an ancestor died on 14th December 1927 at 81 Prescot Road,Knotty Ash and her husband John MacSweeny died at the same address on 9th November 1918.

Can anyone tell me the most likely cemetery where they would have been buried. I think they were catholics.

Thanks in advance for you assistance.

If you can get to the Liverpool Record Office, there is a combined index for the three RC Cemeteries, Ford, Yew Tree and Ainsdale. If you find he entry you need, it specifies the cemetery and then cross references to a list of who else is in the grave.

OK I've amended your heading and if somebody has time when they go to the Record Office they may check for you to see if the burial is on the microfiche.

It may be a while, but fingers crossed.

:D

Well done Katie,

You beat me to it! I was at the RO today, so I thought I would look the burials up but I could only remember the date for John McSweeney in 1918, I forgot to write the year down for Ellen.

Thank you for this instant reply but I do not quite undetrstand. Does this mean all the the people mentioned are buried in one grave despite the wide variation in dates? It sounds like a paupers grave not unusual for my family!

Hi Riley,

The grave was listed as Private, so was owned privately, and would have had the other people listed buried in the same plot if it was a family grave.

I didn't get as far as Katie, but it looks like Ellen owned the deeds to the grave

I think you will find that it's a family grave.
