just did a search on the bmd about james calder in the marrages and found a james calder married mary tinsley in 1875 in everton st peter i wonder if mary is the nan?

oh cool so that means she probably is, do you think it may have been a spelling mistake then? and it is calder?

The marriage isn't on lancs bmd, so we don't know where they married, the cert would have to be ordered.

It is a good possibility.

I also found this death reg, yet another different name spelling!
