LRO marriage look-up please.

Post by PJLong »

Hi crew....what a numbskull I am! Didn't think to ask SKP to find the father of George Thomas (the Greek) on a marriage cert. If anyone has time please:
George Thomas m Elizabeth Bridge at St Philip 3q 1869. I'm not at all sure where St Philip is/was though - just has Liverpool on one site and St Philip on another! Possibly near Clayton St which is their address on the 1871. Anything at all will be a tremendous help.
Thanks in advance,
Pauline.

:D

Hi Pauline,

It could have been St Philip's Hardman Street, my gg grandparents were married there in 1858, it was closed in 1883 and later moved to Shiel Road.

Thanks Jan.......hopefully SKP can have a nosy for me! It'd be interesting to see George's father's name, although if he's a British Subject it could be something entirely Brit! Having now found Elizabeth on the 1911 she has the surname "TOMAS". Uh-oh I see confusion creeping up!

Irene...you're a star! Thank you so much for that one. One of these days I'll be able to repay all the favours the crew are doing for me...........I'm not much good for anything in particular though
So - George was the son of George and both rope makers. Wonder where the Athens, Greece birth fits in? Hmmm, interesting that he's a widower at age 28 too. Ah well, shall have to crack open a bottle of red later to help me root further.
I could do with a seminar on the ins and outs of the LRO then I wouldn't be so afraid of a day in there! I just go to bits when faced with all those ref numbers
Cheers Irene.

Got them! That marriage Irene found for me has certainly thrown a spanner in the works. Now convinced "George the Greek" is nowt to do with my search! There's certainly an awful lot of George Thomas's with a wifie named Elizabeth knocking about! Got George the younger in 1871 at Rokeby St with Elizabeth and six month old baby George....OMG another one! Shall search later for the CORRECT one on the 1881 as I doubt if Greek George (the dock labourer at Lightbody St) is the one I should be dealing with.
Making ready the home for hubby's return - he tried last week but SOMETHING stopped his travels!!!!!
