Finding information on death inquests

Is it possible to obtain details of inquests?
A relavtive of mine died on 10 Sept 1876 and it says on his death cert; "CERTIFICATE RECEIVED FROM CLARKE ASPINALL U (?) CORONER FOR LIVERPOOL INQUEST HELD 12 SEPTEMBER 1876"
Would any record of the inquest still exist?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Checking the Liverpool Record Office Catalogue it appears that the Inquest Registers start at around about 1898, there is a possibility that it may have been reported in the newspaper, if you could give us the name perhaps we could check.

I notice that on your other posting you have family missing from the 1871 census, if you give us the details that you have from the 1861 somebody might be able to help - another set of eyes and all that.

The relative was John Graley born August 1876 and deid 10 September 1876 due to suffocation.
If you could find anything I would be so grateful.

With regard to my missing family in the 1870s... I did start some research about 5 or 6 years ago and, thanks in no small way to the guidance from very kind people on this site, I did make some progress. However the 1870s remained elusive!
My Ggrandmother was Susannah (Susan) Graley born 1868 to Thomas Graley (1845) and Mary/Maria nee McGreavey. They married in 1865 and lived in the courts around Lower Myrtle Street. In the mid 1880s Susan was sent to Canada by the Nugent Society.

Before Mr Clarke Aspinall, Borough Coroner
On the body of John Graley, 13 days old, son of a labourer living in 10 Court, Gilbert Street who was found dead in bed by his mother on Sunday morning. Verdict "Accidentally Suffocated".

You just have to wonder if the death was SIDS as we know it today?

It would seem to be likely that it may have been something like SIDs.
Also, living in the courts, it wasnt the easiest start I suppose and disease which may have led to respiratory problems must have been rife.
I had also wondered, as it says, accidently suffocated in bed, whether (as I imagine everyone bedded down together) the baby was rolled on?

1881 has a Susan Graley 11yrs
at St Anne's Ind School
60 Mason St Lpool.

Thanks Tina. That is my G Grandma. In 1885 she was sent to Canada by the Nugent Society.She lived in Quebec in Canada and Detroit and New York in America until 1896 when, I think, she came back to Liverpool and in 1901 married my G Grandfather.
My grandmother, who was born in 1913 when Susan Graley was 45, never knew her mother had been abroad as she had never spoken about it. We unfortunately only found all this out after my grandma died.
