Douthwaite... Lancaster

Hi Gang

need help with a Joseph Douthwaite's parents.. he was born in Ellel Lancaster 1818, IGI has father as Thomas...need more on this THomas.. ran dry the Lancs OPC.. got all other info on Joseph IE census records newspaper items.. kids 4 marriages..

Just need more on his dad Thomas.. i found one marriage 1806 in Cockerham Lancaster to an Ann Backow but can't be 100% hes my man.. two other kids from IGI James & Catherine..is there anything on Ancestry's parish records for him ??

There appear to be 2 Joseph Douthwaites both born in Ellel one marries Agnes and one marries Alice is yours one of those? Just found another who marries an Ann!

Ellerl was within the parish of Cockerham.

The parish registers will be at lancashire Record Office at Preston.

Hi Hilary.

He marries Agnes she dies of Scarlet Fever they have two kids Alice & John then he marries Ann they have two kids Jane Agatta & Joseph he dies..age 1, then another Agnes..then finaly an Alice all ladies begin with A...

He was an Inn Keeper most of his life, all i have is Thomas for his dad from IGI and a marriage for a Thomas Douthwaite to an Ann Backow 1806..who could be his folks..then a burial at Overton for a Thomas aged 52 in 1831 which maybe him..he was a Husbandsman from the marriage in 1806.

will have to see if anyone is off to Lancs RO..

Hi Col

Some of my "Cornies" born in Ellel/Galgate with Cockerham rego's.
My late bro went up that way for me, he found lots of info at Ulverston Heritage Centre, the people there were just fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble.
