I thought my Wexford/Waterford ancestor was a Leary but another certificate has arrived that looks like Leacy. What do you think? The extract below is from a birth certificate.

Looks like Leacy to me.
Lots of them bn Ireland in the Scots census.
There's a death for a Patrick Leacy in WW1, he was born in Enniscorthy Wexford so the surname appears right for the county.

Thanks folks. I had Leary from the Lancs BMD site and hadn't looked into this surname until now. Other sources have it as Leacy so I'm going to go with Leacy. It's good to know that there's lots of them in Wexford as I think Elizabeth was from Wexford rather than Waterford. I think the Waterford entry on the 1881 census was a mistake. There's a few crossings out on that 1881 record and the 1871 census record that says Wexford looks more reliable.
