marriage ages

What age would be considered 'minor' in 1838 for marriage listings?

It interested me also that I have a marriage certificate that lists this person as 'full age' whereas when I viewed the Parish record it listed her as 'minor'.

Which would you tend to believe, if it's possible to say?

Hi Steve

Minor meant under 21 years of age

of Full age means 21 years and over

I take All 'Written Records' with a 'Pinch of Salt', but I would tend to believe the Parish Records.

There was an Old saying in the Press World (Years ago):

Don't Believe (or Print) Anything till You have 3 Proofs! :roll: :wink:
