William Thomas Jenkinson

Post by Katie »

Can anyone help me solve this problem which I brought back with me from WDYTYA at the Olympia.

The lady who I am helping is looking for William Thomas Jenkinson born approx 1866.

In 1881 he is residing in Legh Street Warrington with

Peter Bradshaw and Mary Bradshaw he is listed as being their nephew

In 1891 he is married and living at 107 Tranlow Road, Everton

In 1901 he is living in Walthemstow Essex.

On his marriage certificate to Amy Spicer his father is recorded as William Thomas Jenkinson Tea broker.

He died in 1943 aged 78 years.

I have been working on establishing who he was the nephew of. The only William Thomas I can find on the 1871 is a William Thomas Jameson. Father James and Mother Mary, Can anyone help me solve this puzzle?

Hi all

I think I may have cracked the case. See if you agree with me

William Thomas and Amy Jenkinson 1st child was registered as William Bradshaw Jenkinson. So this would make him the nephew of Peter Bradshaw. So I looked for birth reg for William Bradshaw There are some but I decided to look for a marriage for a Bradshaw to a Jenkinson and I found a John Bradshaw getting married to a Eliza Jenkinson in All Saints Liverpool in 1865. In the 1881 Census entry living in the same house is a John Bradshaw aged 40 listed as being the brother of Peter Bradshaw. I have Peter marriage ref so I need to see if their fathers are the same. So its possible that William Jenkinson is recorded on the 1871 census as William Bradshaw son of John and Eliza Bradshaw. Cant wait to get the library tomorrow.

William Bradshaw/William Thomas Jenkinson?

Post by Katie »

Hi

Here is what I found out from the marriage of John Bradshaw and Eliza Jenkinson

21st February 1865 - All Saints Liverpool

John Bradshaw-34years-Bachelor-Porter-10ct Horatio Street- William Bradshaw-Farmer

Eliza Jenkinson-38years-Widow- 10ct Horatio Street-Peter Beaty-Labourer

Wits: J James Wallace and Ann Jenkins

Peter Bradshaw marriage who William Thomas is residing with in 1881 is as follows

18th May 1856 St Pauls Toxteth

Peter Bradshaw - 28years- Bachelor- Cuming STreet- Father Peter Bradshaw- Fusten Cutter

Mary Ruth Parry - 26 years- Spinster- Park Street - William Parry - Slate Merchant

Wits: Thomas Bradshaw
Winfred Brown.

I have been trying to eliminate John and Eliza Bradshaw (Formerly Jenkinson nee Beaty) and alls I have managed to do is get more questions than answers.

On the 1881 Census residing at 63 Oswald Street Liverpool are

John Bradshaw - Head Marr 55yrs Porter born Scotland
Elizabeth Bradshaw Wife Marr 53 years born Cockermouth Cumberland
Elizabeth Jenkinson Step Daur- 20years Dressmaker born Liverpool
William Bradshaw Son unm 15years- Printers Compositer born Liverpool
Jane Smith Boarder Mar 34 years Born Liverpool
George Smith- Borders son 7 born Liverpool
Annie Smith - Boarders Daug born Liverpool

On the 1871 Census the family are residng in Hornby Street and they are all listed as being born in Liverpool.

There is a Mary Jenkinson (spelt as Jerkinson on Ancestry) aged 24 years and according to her marriage her father was Fearon Jenkinson.

The only marriage of a Fearon Jenkinson was to an Eliza Kay married 1845 St Martins in the field. which doesnt correspond with her father as being Peter Beaty?

Its the correct family as I located Eliza Jenkinson on the 1861 and her birthplace is Cockermouth.

I need to find out if William Thomas Jenkinson Printers Compositer and William Bradshaw Printers Compositer are one and the same?

I have located the deaths for Eliza Bradshaw buried in Anfield on 17th April 1881 and John Bradshaw buried in Anfield 11th November 1883.

I have been unable to locate William Bradshaw on the 1891 or find anything for Elizabeth Jenkinson. While I was at Liverpool yesterday I did find a Elizabeth Jenkinson Dressmaker in the 1892 Gores. So I will need to check that out

I hope I havent confused everyone

I hope I get this post right, just registered. I found this thread via google, because I’m trying to track William Thomas Jenkinson, a relative. I’m fascinated by the link to Bradshaw – and the possibility he may have changed his name? Thanks, and I’m going to watch this thread!

Thanks Mary

I’ve just sent Katie a message in reply to one she sent. And just to confirm, William Thomas Jenkinson was my Great Grandfather. If the one photograph I’ve seen of him is anything to go by, he was a bit of a character. Love to learn more about him.
