Mahony & Woods
Is anyone following this line ?
Michael Mahony marries Catherine Woods in the Parish Church Liverpool on 7th Jan 1870.
Julia Mahony is born 10 March 1880 at 4 ................ Street Everton.
Julia becomes my grandmother after marrying my grandfather Simon Matthew Donougher on 13 January 1912 at St Thomas' Church Waterloo/Seaforth.
Love to swap information with you.

Hi Alan
I see you have Simon listed against your name on Genes Reunited but I don't see Julia or her parents listed against you. It may be an idea to add them to your tree on GRU
There is an 1880 Julia Mahoney b England listed against a lady called Christine. Have you contacted her to see if there is a connection

Hi
I decided to extend my FH into "children of children" and what do I find - a connection to your Mahony family. I thought the name Julia Mahony rang a bell so here is my connection - abbreviated:
Esther Carlin married William Toft - 2 children including Mary Jane
Mary Jane Toft married Samuel Chalmers - one dtr Mary Jane b 1906
Mary Jane Chalmers married Harold Wells 1937 so I was researching backwards from Harold and found as follows:
His parents were John Philip Wells and Jane Mahony
Jane Mahony was the daughter of Michael and Catherine Mahony (nee Woods) and therefore the sister of Julia Mahony
More interestingly - John Philip Wells parents were Thomas Wells and Sarah Woods and Sarah was born in the IOM as was Catherine Mahony nee Woods
If Catherine Mahony and Jane Wells were sisters- John Philip Wells and Jane Mahony were first cousins

A Never Ending Story!
When Michael Mahony married Catherine Woods in Jan 1870, the witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Wells and Sarah Woods who then went on to marry June qtr 1873.

Hi
I don't think Catherine and Sarah Woods were sisters. 1861 shows Catherine in Liverpool with parents Philip and Lucy but no Sarah (b 1851)

Hi
In view of that info - change of mind - they were sisters.
What threw me was that in 1881 and 1891 - Sarah gives 1851 as her birthyear. Then in 1901 she changes to 1847 so must have decided to "come clean" about being an older woman!!
I looked for them in the IOM in 1861 then found them in Liverpool but no Sarah who should have been about 10yrs old
Looking again for Sarah in 1861 - she shows birthyear as 1846 and was in service!!

Hi! and G'day !
Just for fun... I know I am the g grandson of Catherine Woods so what family relationship do we have ? %th cousins etc ..!!?? I get lost in this area.
Also other than the obvious reference back to the Internet, I have no idea about the Fylde Coast. Could you please enlighten me.
Thanks
Alan

I love it when our forum friends become relations too, great!!
There is a chart here http://www.genproxy.co.uk/relationships ... cousin.htm that might help you work out your cousin-ship
Fylde Coast - think Blackpool and you aren't too far wrong.

Hi
I live in St Annes which is a few miles from Blackpool.
Re: relationship - take a deep breath and here goes
Esther Carlin (Toft) was my fathers aunt so she was my great aunt
Her children were therefore my fathers cousins (ie) Mary Jane Toft (Chalmers) so they were my cousin's once removed (or second cousins)
Mary Jane Chalmers junior was my fathers second cousin and therefore my third cousin (if that's right)
The Wells and Mahony family's have no biological relationship
