I'm afraid there is no easy way. It depends on religion where they lived and family preferences. Then it is a search of the all the possible cemetery records. These are not online but held at Liverpool Record Office. If the family was RC the records for 3 cemeteries Ainsdale, Ford and Yew Tree have been indexed and there are copies in various places.
I suggest you post the address of the person and date of death and then it might be possible to make suggestions as to cemetery and then someone may be willing to do a look up for a particular cemetery.

We have tried to compile a list of cemeteries and their websites, although there are very few transcribed so don't hold your breath, but it will give you an idea of the dates some of them opened.

It would also help if you knew whether you were looking for a C of E or an RC burial.

Hilary, I just knew this wasn't going to be easy - date of death was 30th January 1900 living at 4 Kingswood Avenue, Aintree, aged 35yrs. So any suggestions as to cemeteries would be a great help.
I don't think R.C. they married at the parish church, Astley Bridge.
Mary, thanks for the link - will look through them.
Cheers

You could try, but they don't usually as it takes too long, also why "look up requests" on this board need as much information as possible ie when it's a marriage usually the church is known from either LancashireBMD or the IGI and the date narrowed down to at least the quarter.
When it comes to a burial it's very difficult as families may have owned plots in different areas of the city, or if there were no family to take care of the matter perhaps a workhouse would arrange matters, so it would be difficult to know which cemetery it would be.
Also where the burial took place might depend on the religion, it tends to be much easier to check an RC burial than a C of E as there is a compiled index.
Having said all that, it's worth asking if you have an exact date of death and address for the informant, in other words the full details from the death certificate and see what they say. They may give you a free 15 minutes.
