Crawford's Factory - Saxony Road - Barker Way

Post by Wallaby »

Hi,

This is my first post & I'm researching the Freeman family who lived at 24, Saxony Rd, L7, thru the 1930/40/50/60. Edward/Teddy Freeman & his wife Annie Freeman (nee Blair) had two daughters Olive born 1931 & her sister (who might still be alive) so I'll just give her name as "J" born 1929.

Olive married Philip Brown in 1953, Philip is now deceased & Olive died in 2008. They both lived at 10, Barker Way off Belmont Rd, for many years. Olive worked as a secretary at Crawford's for years & in his later life, her father Edward Freeman also worked there as a packer. Edward Freeman died in 1965, aged 59. Olive & Philip had no children & Philip was a cable joiner who often worked in Bahrain. I only know that Olive's sister "J" lived somewhere "On the Wirral" but, I don't know her married name of if she had any family & would love to trace her, or if she had any children.

Did you work with Olive or Edward at Crawford's, or perhaps live by them in Saxony Rd, or Barker Way, if so I would love to here from you. Perhaps you know what Olive's sister's married name was, which would be a great help for me to trace her or her descendants.

Thank you for reading this post.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

We are often asked about tracing living relatives so we put together a few links to help.

Hello Wallaby,
Send me a PM with Olive's sister J's name. I've had some success at finding folk, living and dead.

Thank you to everyone for the advice & PM's I've had with helpful suggestions & offers of help. I've now found out today That Olive & Philip Brown (both deceased) did have a son born 1953. I was told he had died as a child, but he is alive & lives in Liverpool. Can't put his name on here but his initial is "M". But, the main person I need to find is Olive's sister "J" born 1929 & might still be alive. I don't know who she married but she might have married in 1950/51 & I heard she lives/lived somewhere "On the Wirral".

Thanks again everyone Good night.

Wonderful news about the child born in 1953. So pleased you have found the son.

I need to thread carefully Tina, it sounds like he has some problems, he sounds a bit 'unbalanced' (from what I'm told) so I need to assess what that means - whether mentally, emotionally or just somebody's wrong assessment. So, I'll concentrate on finding Edward & Annie Freeman's daughter "J" until I learn more about Olive & Philip's son "M"

Wallaby

Ahhhh thanks for the Joey.... he looks lovely, I'm potty about animals & would love to hold a Koala.

Yes, that's him, I have his B.C. but I was told he had died as a child... don't know why, but I'll find out. He is now known as "M" as I've PM'd you Tina.

Hi just wanted to update everyone who has helped on this.

I've sent for the two M.C's suggested & I called at one of the neighbours who gave me a telephone number of the niece of the late Philip Brown. Philip's niece told me that Olive's sister, who might be still alive so I'll just call her (J) lived somewhere in Wales. That doesn't mean she married in Wales, but at least I know she lived or lives there. Unfortunately, I still don't know her marriage name until I get the M.C's, or if she had any children. J was born in 1929.

I'll keep you posted,

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to tell you I've found Olive's sister ( J ) Dickiesam, you gave me a few possible marriages for her & it was the ( P ) surname.

I've now contacted her & she is lovely & she is actually my nearest relative being my 1st cousin, as her father & mine were brothers. At 80 years old, she is as bright as a button. She lives in Wales & has done since the early 1950's. I've not met her yet, but she has email & we're working on our family tree together.

I just wanted to say thank you to Dickiesam, Mary & Tina for your help.
