Is anyone able to look up Gore's Directories around 1910/14 for any of the following names: they appear on the WW1 roll of honour in the Town Hall as members of the French Army, but they must have had some sort of Liverpool link to be included:
Callendret, Eugene.
Cauzid, Jean. [EDITED: probably a student at Liverpool University]
Cleqninn, Marcel. [This may be mis-spelled, as it looks odd, but that may be my unfamiliarity with French names! Now found as CLEQUIN]]

I suspect Marcel is in the 1911 census, surname Cleguin, age 28, with Helene age 25 and Henri age 5.
Only Marcel's birthplace is given as France, Helene and Henri given as LIverpool.

Thank you for the steer on Clequin - that is the man, working as a chef, and his family. Their marriage was registered in Q1 1910. There was another of the same surname locally but at a different address in the census, but I am not pursuing him.
Cauzid was a graduate of Liverpool University and is commemorated on their memorial.
Callendret married in 1912 to Leah Davies, registered in Liverpool. Nothing found in 1911 census yet.

Cauzid - I have this from another Forum with a photo of a beautiful memorial in Cauzid's home town [not shown here]:

He gained a Certificate in Commercial Science from the University of Liverpool in 1913....hence the local connection, and his name is on the University War Memorial in the Victoria Building.
He went back to France, and joined the 149th Infantry Regiment, rising to the rank of Corporal. He was born in Saint-Chaptes, in the Gard departement, and his name appears on the war memorial there. He was killed on May 28th 1918 near Branges (Aisne) when "killed by a bullet".
