1881 Census look-up please

Post by daggers »

Any chance of a check on the 1881? RG11, 3720 74 21. This should give a couple called Mewburn or perhaps Newburn, at The Cottage, Hale. The LDS transcript is slightly obscure in some details!
I am interested in the head of the household only.
Many thanks

Hi Daggers

John Mewburn b 1820 could either be an N or M :?
Lt Col Coming 6th Lanc Army Corps Banker (Chief Cashier Livpl Union Bank) Born Witby, Yorkshire
think the 'Coming' could mean Company although the image looks like Conm with a little y above at the end
also think the image says Artillery rather than Army Corps

do you want me to send it?

Simone
Thanks for that. Arty would make sense, as the Lt-Col was in the Volunteer Artillery.
I have sent a pm with my email detail.
