Do you have a census reference for the family in 1851 or any other census for that matter? If so could you please post it as I cannot find the family. These would give some ideas as to were both David and his wife were born.

I presume you have one of the children's birth certificates to know the maiden name of Elizabeth?

Hi all.You are quick off the mark! In 1841 Census they are in Deansgate Manchester and in Callender Yard Wigan in 1851 Census.I have Charles J and Emma's birth certificates that confirm parents names and occupation.
You are probably aware that the marriage in 1828 only contains the names of the couple getting married.

I have posted my tree on Ancestry.

Cheers

Letterpress printer - possibly a couple of bob more than a labour would have - it might be worth checking for a Will, I've had surprises about who have been named in Wills before now, there could be siblings named.

Do you know where he is buried and if there is a headstone?

One of the trees on Ancestry gives David's parents and a christening is this not your man?

There are 2 christenings on www.familysearch.org for David Roberts in 1802 at St Peters Liverpool. Further inspection of the entries might lead to which one is yours.

Hi MaryA

I have not yet got a date of death for him.He is in 1871 Census but nothing after that.I have his wife's death certificate. She died in 1868
in Toxteth Park.
I'll check out your suggestion on wills but I felt I needed more info.Maybe his occupation may throw something up.

Many thanks

I have checked trees on Ancestry.I know them well!
However they have both listed the names and no details. The names look like they are from the 1802 March record.I need to verify parents names before entering on my tree.

Hi Irene

Thanks for your message. I have been in recent contact with the other two tree members and I have checked their input for David Roberts'
parents. They are just two names with no other details. The ones now on their trees are David Roberts and Jane Williams who are shown as parents
for the christening on 21st March 1802 at St Nicholas in Liverpool.I do not know whether or not Banns Records or Parish Registers would throw any light on details of parents. It may be that I will also have to visit LRO.
However. I think I have found David's date of death and have ordered
a copy of the certificate.Barrow in Furness in 1877 looks really promising
because David lived with his son Charles and family and his grandson was born in Barrow in Furness.

I will be very interested in seeing if you unearth anything I can follow up.
Thank you very much for looking.
