not usually but if the wife reported the death it will give her name and spouse after it. the person reporting it may be a relative or a neighbor or a member of the nusing staff if no relative. but it will state the relationship to the deceased if any.

Information death certs
As Northmeols says, you don't usually find that information as a matter of course. However, occasionally I have found the cert stating that the deceased is the widow/widower of..... and names the predeceased spouse. I think it's probably pot luck.

Death cert info
Hello again,
I assume the deaths you have are pre-1984? Otherwise, a clue as to the right death would be the actual date of birth that is shown on deaths after 1984, not just the age which can sometimes be out by several years.

Hello Dickiesam,
I am looking for a John Parry, born c1818 in Liverpool. He married Catherine Jones in December 1843 or 1844, (there are 2 of them) both marriages where in Liverpool. In the 1qtr 1851, Catherine remarried to Owen Owens, I am awaiting that marriage certificate. I am therefor assuming that John died sometime between 1843 and 1851.
Kind regards,
Linda.

Hi Linda,
Just musing..... If it was a Catherine Parry who married Owen Owens in Mar qtr 1851, where is she in the 1851 census?
I could find only one but there are children aged 9 and 11, one of whom is a Catherine aged 9. I think it's doubtful that she is the Catherine Jones who married John Parry, unless I have guestimated her birth year incorrectly. I extended my search up to 1818 +/- 10 years without finding another Catherine Owens spouse of Owen Owens.
OWENS, Owen - Head - Married - 35 - 1816 - Dock Labourer - Liverpool.
OWENS, Catherine - Wife - Married - 33 - 1818 - Manchester.
OWENS, Mary A - Dtr - 11 - 1840 - Scholar - Liverpool.
OWENS, Catherine - Dtr - 9 - 1842 - Scholar - Liverpool.

Hello again,
I will try to explain.
Catherine Jones born c1817 in Carnarvon, Wales.
Married 4qtr 1843 or 4qtr 1844 in Liverpool, Lancashire.
To John Parry born c1818 in Liverpool, Lancashire.
John was a dock labourer and died sometime between his marriage and 1851.
Catherine Parry (nee Jones)
Married 1qtr 1851 in Liverpool, Lancashire.
To Owen Owens born c1806 in Liverpool, Lancashire.
Owen Owens was previously married (c1828 in Liverpool) to Maria Mears? She died 3qtr 1848 or 2qtr 1849. He was a book keeper.
On the 1851 census Catherine was down as living with John Parry, with a child Margret Parry age 5months. (nothing on FreeBMD for Margret Parry born 1850). I have found 4 Margaret Owens born in 1850 though.
In 1853 Catherine and Owen had a son James.
In 1855 " " " " " John.
On the 1861 census Catherine Owen was a widow, living with Margaret Owen aged 12, James Owen aged 8, and John Owen aged 6. Owen Owens must have died sometime between 1855 and 1861.
I hope this has clarified things a bit, although having said that it's still got me confused.
Kind regards,
Linda.

Parry and Owens families
Hi Linda,
Just a quick note for now, but I'll be back! The 1851 census page for John and Catherine Parry shows Marg(a)ret's age as 5 months. That would make her born in either the Sep or Dec qtr of 1850. There's only one in Liverpool that fits:
Births Sep 1850: Parry, Margaret - West Derby - 20 - 1100.
I'd say with some certainty that this is she.
And, who is it in all this that you are trying to nail down? Catherine? And if yes, how did you get back to her marriage to John Parry?

Hello Dickiesam,
I asked for information about Owen Owens (my great grandfather) and Catherine Jones on this forum in April last year. A very kind gentleman by the name of Steven found a Catherine Jones married to a John Parry, and then a Catherine Parry married to an Owen Owens. The dates and birth places seem to be almost the same.
I already had the birth certificates of their sons James and John (my grandfather). I am hopeing that the marriage certificate will prove fruitful, but I will not get that for about another week.
Kind regards,
Linda.

Hello Linda,
I'd appreciate an update when you get the marriage cert for Parry/Owens. Hopefully it will show Catherine was 'nee Jones, formerly Parry'.
If it is her, she didn't have much luck with husbands did she? Just a couple of years to have a child or two then widowed!
Good luck,
Dickiesam

Hello Susan,
Thank you so very much for finding Owen Owens birth and christening, and his parents as well. I am absolutely over the moon. I'm not sure about his death though, because I could not find him anywhere on the 1861 census which was taken on the 7th April 1861. I assumed that he had died between 1855 and the 1qtr 1861.
Once again many thanks.
Kind regards,
Linda.

the july aug sept entry is probably him. he may have been at the local hospital/working house for the poor and sick. when the census was taken. you could try checking for burial records for about that time and 3 months prior.

Hello All,
Sadly the marriage certificate was the wrong one (big disappointment), so it's back to the drawing board again. But looking on the bright side, I won £25 on the premium bonds, so that has payed for the certificate with some left over.
I would like to thank everyone for all your help and leave you all in peace so that you can help other people, while I try to figure out what to do next.
Once again many thanks.
Kind regards,
Linda.
