Hi Yes that's what I'm beginning to believe.
Of course, there could be two George Walker's from Winsford but I doubt it having gone through census.
I've found the Jones girls together by the way, will list shortly.
I knew what a pansmith was, you beat me to it with a much better explanation! A lot of people from Northwich moved over to Garston Salt Works where my OH's family lived.

From the marriage cert did it say who Elzbth's father was?

The crew will agree, you can't believe all that was put on marr certs. George may have been a widow but chose to put bachelor??

Sandbach

Post by Tina »

1841 census Winsford Hill Davenham, Over Ches

Adam Sandbach waterman 30, Sarah 30, Richard 11, William 9, Adam jr 7, Samuel 4, Elizabeth 2 all bn Ches.

 Here's a surprise

Marr Adam Sandbach to Sarah WALKER...
16/11/1829 Whitegate

by the way Sarah Ann Walker 14 1871 in service North Meols should read Southport not Ches.
The head of the family sounds like an Aussie bushranger
Thomas Wildman Barker...
I wonder what happened to her also her bro Thomas bn Bham?

Tina

Added later: It's a pity that Sandbach isn't your direct rellie Caroline as their history is interesting as well as Sandbach village in Ches.
I won't list anymore just to say I think Adam married again.

Hi E.O
Interesting you found James amongst the family as there is a James as a witness to the wedding prev. listed.
Also, Aaron going to Blackburn!
There's an Aaron in 1891 Oswaldtwistle bn Winsford age as 57 should be 51 and he's a BOILERMAKER :) has a son Aaron bn Blackburn.

Your findings about Elizabeth look like they are correct...on her marriage certificate her father is listed as John Jones (and his profession as Rigger) and a witness to the marriage was Ann Jones so I had half thought that this was perhaps her mother.

Thomas Wildman Barker sounds like an interesting character!! Will try and look in to that some more in the next few days, things currently very hectic as is mum's suprise birthday party tonight!! But from Monday until her birthday at the end of next week I will have free reign to investigate all these leads, thanks so much again for all the effort!!

Just a quick post to say thanks to everyone for all of the help. Have finished the book that I was making mum as we're off on our holidays tomorrow and her birthday is while we're away, but will definately sit down with her and follow up on the rest of the leads (Aaron etc.) when we're home!

Thanks again :)

George Walker -Liverpool

Post by janie »

Hi There

I too am related to George and Elizabeth Walker (nee Jones)

I am the great great (!!!) grand daughter of James his son. James was named James Henry Walker and married Jessie Keegan in 1900. They had a daughter (Jane Elizabeth Walker) my great grandma who I am named after. Jane was blinded at age 3 and both her parents died when she was a child. She was orphaned and brought up by her grandma (Jane Keegan) She became Jane Middleton after marrying Frank Middleton in 1920 ans went on to have 4 children; Frank, James Henry, Dorothy and Lilian(my grandma). Although she was widowed in the 1930's she brought her children up, despite being alone and blind, through the depression. One tough lady. Hope this adds to the picture for you. I haven't been actively reserching for a while but do have more infor on the family. feel free to message me. Jane

Hi Jane and a warm welcome.
Thank you for sharing your gt gt grandma with us.
What a wonderful lady, you must be very proud to share her name.
People like Jane didn't receive any accolades, they just got on with their lot.

Heartwarming.
