The disappearing Caves
The disappearing Caves
Like so many of my ancestors this family seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth!
I have William A Cave born Woolton 1869, his wife Margaret, born Newton-le-Willows 1871 and his two boys, William born 1895 and Stanley born 1900, both in Earlestown. They all appear on the 1901 census living in Newton-in-Makerfield. Can I find any of them on the 1911 - no I can't. I,ve tried to see if they may have emigrated but if they did it wasn't to Australia as far as I can see.
Can anyone find them?
Cheers
Barbara

Do you actually know for sure that they survived?
Try searching for Margaret Cave - birthplace NEWTON. She turns up in Warrington.
Now put in Reference RD459 and Margaret Cave in the Other Members of Household (take out birthplace Newton) and you will find
Harold 8
Marjorie 2
Mary Ann Hunt 78.
Deaths of
Stanley Cave Q3 1901 Warrington 8c 135 (born about 1901)
William Cave Q2 1901 Warrington 8c 114 age 7

Thanks Carole, I hadn't even bothered to check for him in case he'd already died, although he wasn't showing up in the death indexes, I thought maybe Barbara could tell us Margaret's status from the census to make things easier.

Thanks Mary and Carole for finding the lost Caves. I did look for Margaret but thought it wasn't the right one when William and Stanley didn't appear. How sad that the two boys died. It's good to know they went on to have more children though. I wonder what William was doing in Wales?
Once again thank you for clearing up the mystery.

Visiting relatives maybe? he's with Thomas Cave age 68, Annie Cave 59 and Joseph Appleby Donnell age 29. It'd be interesting to know.Barbara B wrote:I wonder what William was doing in Wales?
Definitely the right family, Thomas's birthplace is Woolton also, I suppose he's remarried since his previous wife was Elizabeth.
