First off......, my apologies to MaryA. I missed your post of the 30th of July about a library visit at the top of this page. I would have had to apologise then as well. The GRO registers are only available in Dublin. That's a city I rarely venture into these days from my spot in the sticks, and then only if I know I will find a parking spot close, I mean very close, to my destination. These days that's usually a hospital consultant to get my prescription for WD40 renewed!
Next, thank you for the photographs of the memorial and I am pleased to have played a part in discovering the reason for the Asquith father and son being among those honoured.

Daggers, do I understand that there were only eight crew members on the Cliffburn? wow it was small, especially compared with the Northumberland.
Dickiesam, I thought maybe Wexford Library had indexes the same as Dublin, if I'd thought about it I should have known better having checked them myself there once - and yes! I managed to get a parking meter just outside. But I know what you mean, on my visit I had intended to stay overnight in Dublin but after driving around in circles, eventually headed out of town and on down south instead.

I received a phone call from the grandson, Eric, this evening who wanted to let you know that he and his cousins around the country, are delighted with the information you found about the two Frederick Asquiths.
Thanks to Katie finding the obituary, we now know where the family lived in 1918 but have problems finding exactly where in Melling was Hope Cottage. Is there anybody with a map that might show this location please?

Thanks for looking, I was trying old-maps, but this silly work computer doesn't like the site for some reason and I can't see the map properly, will have a better look on there over the weekend but if your's doesn't show it, I don't hold out much "Hope"
