Help with a Jones

Post by Lesley Black »

Hi Folks

I'm trying to trace marriage details of Frances Elina Andrews (nee Jones) born June 1865, died 20 Jan 1959.

1901 census - she was still living at home with mum & younger sister.

Any help would be so appreciated

Lesley

Hi Lesley,
I had a quick look on Ancestry and came up with this:
Frances E Jones m Thomas J Andrews
in Atcham Shropshire
AMJ 1917
Could this be a candidate?
Lisa.

To save trawling through 1901 to 1911, Frances is still single in the 1911 census...

Hi Lisa

Well I never, with nothing else to go on it could possible be.

I'm trying to do a family tree of the founder of the charity I work for and never considered looking outside of the area - silly me!

If it is the right one .......................... wonder how they met!!

Thanks so much

Thought she might not have married until after her mother died (1914), would you mind checking to see if she was still living with her mum and sister in 1911

Thanks for your help

Hi Lesley,
Sorry,
To see the transcript and/or the census page you have to buy credits. I am right out at the moment. If memory serves me right, enough credits to get a copy of the census page will cost £6.00, but you will have some credits left.

There's a Dec qtr 1911 marriage of a Frances E Jones in Birkenhead but while there is a John and a Joseph Andrews getting wed in the same qtr the page numbers don't match the one for Frances.

Looks like the one that Hawkeye found is a very strong probability and Frances waited until her mother passed before tying the knot. When you order the marriage cert from the GRO make sure you use the Reference Checking facility and specify Frances' father's name. That way, if the index reference points to different Frances the GRO will only charge you £4 for the search instead of £7 for a wrong cert.

She appears to be living with Mary Jackson Jones, 73 years old and an Isabella Innstall, if that helps.

Thanks Mary

Guess Frances was the one who stayed at home to look after mum. Frances was 1 of 4 surviving children Mary had - only 2 went on to have children and one of those families settled in Uruguay - don't suppose you have connections there!!

Thanks again

Lesley
