Coal Merchants

I am looking for a coal merchants in the name of Foreshaw or Forshaw. Christian name Robert or Bob. It would have been in the Scotland Road area I think and around the 1910/ 20s. I am a bit vague as I have just become aware of this link and am trying to find out more.

Is anyone aware of this business or can you point me in the direction of where to look.

Hello Jean,

I looked in the 1911 and 1914 directories and nothing listed for Robert or Bob Forshaw/Foreshaw Coal dealers or merchants.

1938 Directory Coal Dealers
Rt W Forshaw 2 and 9 India St Lpl 5 and
39 Cornwallis St Lpl 5.

..thats amazing. Thank you so much. I was obviously well out with the dates so thanks for looking.

I thought it was going to be one of those "dead ends" or stories that got warped over the years but now I feel that I am almost looking through the keyhole of time back to the coal man.

Thanks again to everyone who read this and looked into it for me. In a world where the news seems to be everyone on the take its heartening to have such nice people about.

Perhaps you could ask SKP to look at electoral rolls for the time frame?
There's baby Robert W Forshaw bn 1939 Lpl N maiden name Quirk.

Well I've replied to a pm you sent me wondering if my line might be connected, but the timeframe is so wide that there will be no knowing without a lot more research.

I was wondering if there was any way to take this line backwards and see, but I see that Tina is, of course, on the ball before me!

Not sure these would be right Tina, location is wrong, unless they moved, which they could have done of course.

Robert W Forshaw married Lilian Quirk 1932 Toxteth Park, St. James

But then again - the Robert with middle initial W is hopeful.

We need a request for a marriage look up, fingers crossed for next week as the Record Office is open again then.
