1841 & 1851 census look-up, please

Is anyone able to look for William Purdon or Purdom, resident in Aigburth, 1841 and '51?
Full details of him and his family would be very helpful.

Searched for DoB from 1770 to 1840. Think this could be him in the 1841? He's the only one in Lancs with a DoB between those dates. If you would like the Census page send me a PM. The top of the page has "Aigburth Hamlet" on it.

Tina - the answer was to be 'Ireland, probably' but this is confirmed by Dickiesam who has found what I wanted.
Purdon was the first minister of St Anne's Church in Aigburth (founded 1837). I see he lived at Bath Villa which in the 1st edition OS map was in Aigburth Vale.

Any sighting in 1851 - he left in 1852?

As usual you have deduced correctly. I found some Irish references - he married well, his first wife being a daughter of the Marquess of Sligo, the second was daughter of a baronet! The second marriage was in 1842, so in 1841 he was a widower.
Interesting address in 1851!
Thanks again for interest.
ADDED: He left Aigburth to deal with family affairs in Ireland - Co. Clare, where his forebears had been High Sheriffs etc.

Do you know where they went on to later and do you have the later censuses? not that they are popping up in an obvious manner in 1861 but if you still want them I'll try again, especially if you know the area.

The history of the church says that Purdon returned to Ireland, presumably Co. Clare, where the family owned land. He had been educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He may have taken a church living in Ireland but I have not traced as far.

Have you thought about joining the Rootsweb Mailing List for the county? there are often some knowledgeable people who help on there, additionally the Monumental Inscriptions or Cemeteries lists might be useful for you to post a query.
