:D Hello, I am a new member, researching for my son in laws family in Liverpool. So I do not know the area atall.
Could anyone tell me where The Parish Church,in the parish of Liverpool is please!!!!
This is all the information there is on the marriage certificate I have for a Lawrence Hanlon, who was living at Pleasant Street.1878.W>R Duncan is the curate.
On the 1901 census it says that he is blind for 22 years. He was born around 1850. So around the time he got married.
He is a looking glass maker. Any ideas where this may have been at?
Are there any homes for the blind in the area. Or would be have just had to get on with it.?

Hi Eileen,

Welcome to the forum,

Was this the marriage in 1878?

HANLON Lawrence BALMER Ann Liverpool, St. Peter Liverpool 2122LP/69/283

St Peter's is no longer there, it was demolished around 1923.

Hi!

The Liverpool Workshops for the Blind were situated in Cornwallis Street. I remember them producing coir matting, but assume that there would have been other activities.

St Peter's (Church Street) and St Nicholas (aka Our Lady and St. N...) were jointly the parish churches of Liverpool.

Thanks Mary!
I couldn't find him in 1881 at first, where he should be blind.
He's listed as Lawrence O'Hanlon and yes he's blind aged 32yrs.
Looking glass maker, what an achievement....
