Totally wrong guy
Christening Date: 15 Sep 1826 Recorded in: Nantwich, Cheshire, England
Father: Robert ASTLES
Mother: Ann ASTLES
Source: FHL Film 1836131 Dates: 1821 - 1830

Some mentions of Samuel Astles on my disc.
Wills preserved in the Probate Court, Chester
Astles, Samuel, of Wirswall 1758
Astles, Catherine, of Elton, widow 1713
Astles, Joseph, of Nantwich, joiner and cabinet maker. 03 Jun 1811.
Might give you some clues for relatives, Wirswall is only 25 miles away from Northwich, Nantwich sort of half way between the two and Elton over by Ellesmere Port.

Sorry there was no trace of Robert's marriage. I tried the Cheshire Parish Register site and it still seems to be down - strange I think it's been offline for at least a week.

Hi Mary and thanks

I have Samuel Astles b c 1730 and wife Elizabeth.. ? kids i have are

Mary b 1754 Davenham
Thomas b 1757 Davenham
Elin b 1757 Davenham
George b 1763 Davenham
Mary b 1764 Davenham
Samuel b 1769 Davenham
Elias b 1771 Davenham

Then i follow Elias and wife Alice Berry they married 1790 and one of his witneses was Samuel Astles..

I was really stuck with Samuel's parents so it looks like it could be Robert & Ann..I can't see any other children on IGI for them or a marriage looked in Lancs too amd yes the cheshire parish registers is not working at the moment.
Thing that worries me though is Samuel not having a son named Robert...

cheers

Yes, it is usual isn't it. Nor do I see any other children for Robert and Ann, even deleted the wife's name in case he married again but still no luck.

There are a few from a later family, you could keep these on file as they are probably related to another branch

Shoot me! the one I gave is for totally the wrong century! Almost exactly 100 years out.

Sorry no Astles at all in the early 1700's

Hiya hes got to have come from somewhere.. and with naming first born Thomas.. maybe thats a clue..
They all seem to live in a village called Whatcroft classed as being in Davenham.. thats my only clue.. theres a lady with St Wilfreds burials.. i can see a couple of Astles but no names i know.. i guess they dont have headstones.. or i wonder where else they would get buried in that area back then ?? any ideas.

I'll check the Cheshire PR'S again later and see if they are back on..

It all seems very likely, especially with the age at burial. Really you need a will to try to prove it but I've checked and haven't found one listed.

Picking up on Daniel's name - could this be a possible sister for Samuel?

hiya seems like it could be too early 1715-1719 Samuel wasnt born till c1730.. so his dad Daniel (if its his dad) would be born around 1700-1710.

Not sure how far Coppenhall is from Davenham..

Think its a lost cause Mary.. and the funny thing is the Astles tree i am doing is for a lad named Stephen a mate of hubbys and his son is called Daniel hes 10years old wouldnt it be nice to start with Daniel and get to Daniel again all these years later :D

My thoughts Val.

OK then still a possible sister for Daniel .... and maybe their father is Daniel too?

Oh I know I'm clutching at straws!
