for the marriage of Joseph Carter to Margaret Whitelock.
Joseph will be around 50yrs of age, widowed lighterman.
I would love to know if Margaret was a spinster, she too would have been 50.
Many thanks in advance

Hi Irene
Quick question please..
If someone goes to LRO can they order death/birth cert?
If so, what do they need to know, vol, page number etc.
I always go through Southport because of my location.
Thank you

You can order a birth, marriage or death certificate from the Register Office, not the Record Office - the reference you need to do this is the one from the LancashireBMD site. In some way this reference also refers to the Parish Register entry eg. I think the last number is the entry number.
The GRO reference, from either Findmypast, Ancestry, FreeBMD etc. is required to order from Southport, same place as online http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
As Irene says, Southport is usually quicker than the Liverpool Register Office that often has a few weeks backlog, but if it's personal service you want, helpfulness for instance, the local register offices are sometimes better as they will take a more personal interest.
